John Galliano Paint
From Paint-by-Fashion:
"John Galliano, may his career rest in peace. I feel this needs a little explanation:
I took this photo of John Galliano s/s 2010 in the window of the Place Vendome boutique in Paris last summer. On that same trip in Paris I took this background photo of some great graffiti. Coincidence that the character looks just like John Galliano as his career is dying? And the manikin and the Galliano look-alike are doing the same pose? Can you say, creative fate?"

Oscar's Eye
One of the many things I love about Oscar de la Renta is his eye for color. Every season he features breathtaking, unexpected colors, but even more fantastically he shows off the beautiful skin tones of black women. For his new Resort collection Oscar de la Renta ended his show with two gorgeous women in spring colors that could only come from Oscar's unique eye.
Though women of color are not seen as much as they should in the modeling industry, there's hope yet with designers like Mr. de la Renta showcasing their unrivaled beauty.

Jil Sander F/W 2011, Givenchy F/W 2011, Rodarte F/W 2011
I've started a new blog called Paint-by-Fashion. I basically take runway shots from style.com and put them into my own photos. Since I don't have internet at my house anymore I've been spending much of my free time on Microsoft Paint, and since I've been neglecting this blog I figured I would start a new one that's easier to update with minimal internet use. The new blog combines two of my favorite things: fashion and my random photography. Check it out and enjoy!

Balenciaga at the de Young
Sorry for the low quality of these pictures. You're not allowed to take photos at the Balenciaga and Spain exhibit at the de Young museum in San Francisco, so I had to make do with some sneaky photog skills and an iphone. Also, some of these were behind glass- and I loved the exhibit aside for that fact. I understand why these amazing pieces might be better off behind glass, but don't put an elaborately beaded 1950s Balenciaga gown 15 ft behind glass. I need to see the details! Otherwise, beyond amazing.
I also saw the Pulp Fashion exhibit at the Legion of Honor. It features the art of Isabelle de Borchgrave, who makes replicas of fashions from fine art paintings to Chanel and Dior- completely out of paper. She does something magical to this paper to make it look, drape, and act as fabric. Check it out

Inspired by Emma Mulholland
Australian designer Emma Mulholland, 2006 Vans Women's Triple Crown of Surfing poster, Blake Lively in Vogue June 2010, Emma Mulholland, tow-in surfing from google images, Proenza Schouler Spring 2010, art by Heather Brown, Ron Artis surfboard art (North Shore, Oahu), Kelly Slater, Emma Mulholland, Kelly Slater, flikr image, photo by me, ROAM Hawaii, Blue Crush, Teen Vogue, The Endless Summer, art by Kim Macconnel at SDMCA in La Jolla, Emma Mulholland
Emma Mulholland's designs are clearly reminiscent of 90s surf culture, a trend being seen not just in today's surf culture, but all over the recent catwalks. I have a bit of a love affair with wave riders and their culture, as my boyfriend is a surfer and we lived in Hawaii for 3 years, and let's face it- I'm a California girl. So now that we're starting to see the summer season here in San Diego, its impossible for me to not be inspired by surf and sunshine. I always welcome color in my life, and especially now that my days are getting brighter and warmer there's no doubt my wardrobe will reflect that.
