I've been without tv and internet for about a week now. Its left me a little more bored than I would like to admit, making me realize how reliant I am on the internet to function. Well, embarrassing points aside, I've been preoccupying myself with other things, one of which is paint. No, not the actual artist-type paint, but the Windows-type paint program, you know, the one that was super cutting-edge about 15 years ago. Yeah, that paint. I spent much of my free time in the last week editing the photos that I saved from the F/W 2011 collections back when I had internet and assembling them into mini-collections. Now that I am with my laptop at a friend's house, I figured I would upload some of the ones I've put together so far.

Now, these are only a few of many many favorites from this season, and I will upload the rest when I'm done. I'm going to use this time while I have internet access to look at the collections I've missed, and then hopefully the next time I'm able to use the internet I will have more to upload.
About the collections:
Suno- I can't recall having heard of Suno before seeing this collection, but I can definitely say I am now a fan. I absolutely love everything about this collection, from the patterns to the colors to the accessories- especially the shoes!! It reminds me of this one dress I had a few years ago and one day it was gone.... I don't know what ever happened to that dress but can still remember every detail of its patchwork fabrics and I still miss it. Oh well, at least I have Suno to bring me back to those better times!
Rodarte- And they win me over, yet again. For some reason its hard for me to admit to liking 'fads' and things that get widely popularized and then get even more trendy for being that popular, but Rodarte is just so hard to dismiss. Everything they make is just so beautiful and inspired that there really is no wonder why they became so popular. Rodarte has earned the new-found reputation and the Mulleavy sisters deserve it. This collection is so wispy and dreamy and the boots are just crazy. I only wish they had done some more accessories in the same direction of those boots.
Alexander Wang- I actually haven't really hopped on the Wang train just yet, but this collection put me closer to that point. Um, a cashmere-silk poncho, anyone? Yes, please! And what I love about Alexander Wang is that everything is so simplified yet complex and obscure at the same time. At first glance it could almost be boring, but the given double-take makes it impossible to look just once. Each garment is much more elaborate than it lets on. Wang does edgy-elegance in the most unassuming way, and I'm starting to like him more and more simply for his approach.
Chanel- What is there really to say? I mean, its Chanel, its Karl Lagerfeld, it is what it is. Beauty. An inevitable trend. You know, Chanel. All I can really say is strap some of them sneakers on me, put me in a Chanel gown in the middle of an Edgar Allen Poe novel, and I'm down. And I say Poe because this is super The Raven to me, but its pretty obvious Lagerfeld just jumped on the Twilight bandwagon. I'm about ready to never hear about vampires again in my life, unless its Interview With a Vampire. Time to move on, people!
Alexander McQueen- I'm still kind of sorting out my opinions on Sarah Burton, but I can say for sure that I thought this collection was only about halfway McQueen. Each gown is unbelievable, the leather work is ridiculous, and the overall looks are impressive, but its just not a McQueen showstopper. It wasn't pushed enough. Each look is so fantastical, but just not enough. I can say, though, that it seems that Ms. Burton can organize her thoughts and designs fairly well compared to the late McQueen, but it also may be a drawback to kind of see the direction in which her creative mind was going, unlike McQueen, whose garments acted as if their maker was from another planet. Anway, I will say that I liked the collection (especially the bondage-inspired leather) and that I'm excited to see Sarah Burton's future work. In the meantime I can just go back to thinking "what if..."
