$2 Vintage

Frock You Vintage is having a "garage sale" at their boutique on Park Blvd in San Diego. I was on my way to the library and wouldn't have noticed the place if not for the neon "VINTAGE SALE" and "$2" signs posted above the two giant piles of clothes on the sidewalk. They had me at "sale" but add "vintage" and "$2" onto that and I'm in love. I walked away $9 broker with 3 items and a huge smile. Don't you just love thrift shopping?

Im calling this a "Cosby sweater." It was in the men's pile- with a hole in the armpit and  missing a button, but easily fixed. Its also tagless, but I'm guessing its wool.

This sweater was beyond the $2 pile trap but was still a steal at $5. Its 100% wool and ridiculously itchy.

And this is my shining jewel of the day. It was screaming at me from the $2 pile and I was hugging it within seconds after arriving there. With the surprising shopper population of hipsters and fashionistas I was surprised nobody had snatched it up before me. It has a 70's style collar and a 60's style fold in the front of the skirt and a faded tag, which leads me to believe that its a late 60's dress. The brand is "Modern Junior's" and I should have considered that when buying it without trying it on. I'm going to have to try to take it out a few inches in the arms... and the waist and the chest. And I'm actually loving this abrasive orange color.

Time to head off to Buffalo Exchange with a heap of old clothes/shoes to make money for more $2 vintage!

The Right Stripe

I love Junya Watanabe's interpretation of a sailor-girl. And the sheer-fabric masks with the intensely-colored hair and cute straw-and-striped hats are brilliant. Brilliant.

Paris Changed My Life

This past June I met my mom in Paris, where we spent a week enjoying the city before going to Holland to meet my Dutch family for the first time. Meeting my grandfather's cousin and nieces was an other-worldly experience in its own, but my time spent in Paris left me a changed girl. I will now and forever dream of being a Parisienne woman and living the aesthetically-pleasing life they must live in Paris. The amazing city and people of Paris are so beautiful and... well, I almost have no words. Oh, but now I remember four: salade de chevre chaud.

I pretty much stuffed my face in Paris. Crepes, croque monsieurs, croissants, duck, brie, gelato, orangina, wine... I will never forget the taste of Paris! I also walked and shopped till I dropped. The architecture, the layout of the city, the art, and the fashion... its all so breathtaking.

Even their graffiti is chic.

Notre Dame cathedral gave me chills, the Museum of Modern Art at Pompidou Center inspired me, and the Louvre made me feel like a part of history. When can I return?

Though I only spent a night in Amsterdam I experienced- and loved- a bit of their Red Light Fashion. My highlights:

Until next time, Europe, I bid you adieu.

Yay! My First Blog!!

I've been contemplating creating a blog for a while now, and I'm so excited that I've finally done it! I don't know what's taken me so long. Well, enough looking back on the fact, time to move forward.

On this blog I will chronicle my daily thoughts and opinions on what I see or hear around me, as long as its got style. My life is all about what makes me happy, from the clothes I wear to the things I read, hear, and say. I have opinions about everything and can pull inspiration from anything, and now I can share it all with you!

What makes me so excited about having a blog is that its such a great creative outlet and powerful means of expression. After all, who would I be without the power to express and create? What would life be?
